A Torah
for Mendy.

A Sefer Torah in Memory of Mendy Vilenkin

Join family, friends, and the wider community in writing a Sefer Torah in memory of Mendy, a lasting tribute to his life and a zechus for his neshamah.

A bright soul

Remembering Mendy

Mendy Vilenkin was just 17 years old, yet in his short life he touched the lives of so many. In his memory, family and friends are coming together to write a Sefer Torah, a beautiful and everlasting zechus for his neshamah.

Every letter written, every aliyah called, and every time this Torah is read will be another opportunity to remember Mendy and continue the light he brought into the world.

Every letter. A lasting legacy.

Every Yid matters

A Life of Shlichus and Mivtzoim

Mendy understood that every Yid matters and every mitzvah counts. Whether helping another Yid put on tefillin or simply sharing a warm smile, Mendy lived with the spirit of the Rebbe’s mivtzoim. Now, through the writing of this Sefer Torah, we have an opportunity to continue that spirit together.

The story of this Sefer Torah

Begun as a Zechus, Continued in His Memory

This Sefer Torah was first planned as a zechus for Mendy’s refuah shleima. The hope was that Mendy himself would begin the writing while he was still in the hospital. Sadly, that opportunity never came.

After his passing, we continued the Sefer Torah in his memory. The writing began in Toronto after the shiva, and the parchment was then sent back to New York, where the writing continues.

Be a Part of Mendy’s Sefer Torah

Every Yid deserves a letter in the Torah.

Family, friends, and Klal Yisroel are invited to participate in this special mitzvah. Dedicate a letter, a posuk, a parsha, or a larger portion of the Sefer Torah in Mendy’s memory. Every participation is a meaningful zechus for his neshamah.

The celebration

The Hachnasas Sefer Torah

When the Sefer Torah is completed, family, friends, and the community will come together for a joyous Hachnasas Sefer Torah in Mendy’s memory. Details of the Siyum and Hachnasas Sefer Torah will be announced as the writing progresses.
